Developmental Assessment & Monitoring
If you have concerns about your child's early development, I offer a formal assessment of developmental progress and monitoring. This involves a detailed developmental history, a standardised interview and the completion of a series of questionnaires that allows comparison of your child's functioning with the wider population to estimate their progress. This can then be repeated (as needed) to monitor your child's progress and establish if they are following a typical growth rate. The assessment covers communication, community use, functional academics, health and safety, home and school living, leisure, motor, self-care, self-direction, and social skills.
Cognitive and Neuropsychological Assessment
I offer comprehensive cognitive assessments for young people where there are concerns about their thinking skills. A cognitive assessment, also called cognitive testing, is an in-depth assessment of skills and abilities linked to brain function. What the assessment measures will vary depending on the child's needs but may include skills like: attention, language function, general reasoning, problem-solving, memory, processing speed, working memory, visual-spatial skills, academic skills, and social-emotional functioning. My particular expertise are with the assessment of those who have concerns due to a neurological or neurodevelopmental condition, such as traumatic brain injury or epilepsy.
Consultation and Training for Schools and other Organisations
Children with cognitive difficulties and neurological conditions can often find school very difficult. I offer formal support to schools to help them understand your child and help children to get the best out of school. This can sometimes be 1:1 discussions with teachers or SENCos, meetings with several professionals to discuss support options and understanding your child, or more formal training to whole school staff.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment and Screening
I offer formal ADHD screening and assessment for ADHD Diagnosis. ADHD screening will include a meeting with parent(s) to obtain a developmental history and completion of a series of questionnaires by school and parent(s). Formal assessment will include the latter, alongside formal cognitive testing and, if required, school observation.
